The Trough of Bowland, May 2019
60 miles

There's a great little cafe in Waddington at the southern end to breakfast, then it's up and over the moorland and through Gisburn Forest to the East. Join the A65 briefly but leave again to cut through Bentham and across to Caton. If you can stop in the village, cut across the river to the Crook of Lune and find the cafe to sit and view the river while you recharge your batteries.

Leave to the South, and hang a left at Quernmore to climb up and over the Trough itself, down a truly great road into the centre of England, Dunsop Bridge. Then any number of snaky country lanes to get you back to a major road, eventually, and home.
